FOREIGN JAUNTS ON THEATER WORK

  • Italy: Studied in the University of Rome on an Italian Govt. Fellowship in 1980-81. Visited U.K., Ireland, Switzerland, Paris, Greece, West Germany and Austria on theater studies.
  • Visited Abu-Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah for conducting theater workshops in 1988.
  • Visited U.S.A. on a theater visit programme for playwrights under the auspices of the U.S.I.S. in 1989.
  • Studied at the New York University on post doctoral Fulbright Fellowship under Richard Schechner during 1989-90.
  • Went to Tokyo as visiting professor of theater in Meiji University on Japan Foundation Fellowship in 1996.
  • Visited Malaysia to conduct theater seminar in Malay University, K.L..  in 1997. Also visited Singapore and Bali on cultural studies, the same year.
  • Performed in Japan with a theater troupe, consisting of  a group from School of Drama, Calicut University on Indian theater, in 2001.
  • Went to Paris as Visiting Professor in a cultural exchange programme of the U.G.C., New Delhi, the same year.
  • Visited Doha as Jury Chairman to judge a national theater festival in 2002.
  • Went to South Korea to present own play, ‘Kuchelagatha’ at the Asian Theater Festival in 2002.
  • Travelled to Doha again as chairman of Jury Committee for assessing a state level drama  in 2003.
  • Visited Russia to present a paper on theater at the International Theater Conference at St. Peters Burg in 2004.
  • Presented a Research paper at the 7th Conference of the Society for Shamanastic Research at Chang Chun, China in 2004.
  • Another visit to China to present a paper in a seminar on Anthropology and Theater in Xing Jiang Normal University in the same year. Attended Chekho-Theater festival in Beijing, China too.
  • Visited Dhaka and presented a paper on Ibsen’s ‘The Master Builder’ for the International Ibsen Conference in 2006.
  • Went to Helsinki to read a paper on Theyyam and Globalization in connection with IFTR Congress in 2006.
  • Went to Oslo to present a paper on Ibsen’s ‘The Wild Duck’ at the University of Oslo in 2006.
  • Visited London for experiencing Shakespeare’s Globe Theater performances  in 2006.
  • Conducted Theater Workshops in Stellan Bosch and Durban Universities in South Africa in 2007.
  • Went to University of Athens in Greece for conducting research on ancient Greek Drama during 2008.
  • Went to Switzerland for conducting theater workshop and seminar at the Fir Bourge University in 2008.
